Both teams were strong on the mound, but Clemson defeated Louisville 3-1 to end their four game losing streak that included getting swept by NC State last weekend.
Clemson pitchers allowed just eight hits to Louisville. In the second inning, Clemson got their offense started. Kyle Wilkie drove in two when he doubled. Jacob Hennessy was credited with the victory for Clemson. He lasted seven and a third innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out six.
Ryan Miller and Carson Spiers entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Miller recorded the last four outs to earn the save for Clemson.
Adam Wolf took the loss for Louisville. He surrendered three runs on four hits over eight innings, striking out nine.
Clemson collected six hits on the day. Drew Wharton and Wilkie each had multiple hits for Clemson. Wharton led Clemson with three hits in four at bats.
Logan Wyatt went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Louisville in hits.
The Tigers are now 17-5 on the year overall and 4-3 in the ACC. Hennessy finally gets his second win of the season and Ryan Miller recorded his second save.
