Clemson Wins Series In Walk-Off Fashion

Clemson finished their regular season home schedule off in dramatic fashion on Sunday with a walk-off home run by Grayson Byrd to defeat Austin Peay 3-2

There were zeros across the board until the sixth inning when Austin Peay drew two bases loaded walks to take the lead 2-0.

Clemson responded in the bottom frame with Jordan Greene hitting a leadoff single, followed by walks from both Seth Beer and Chris Williams. Kyle Wilkie drew a bases loaded walk to cut the defecit to 2-1. Grayson Byrd then hit a one-out sacrifice fly to left field that scored Beer and tied the game, but Chris Williams was caught on the base paths for the third out.

Fast forward to the bottom of the 9th of a tie ballgame.

After Kyle Wilkie and Grayson Byrd both singled with no outs, Drew Wharton laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners over to 2nd and 3rd. Robert Jolly then hit the ball to the 3rd baseman, and Kyle Wilkie was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice. The umpires reviewed the play for a while, but the call stood.

We head to extra innings.

In the 10th the Tigers loaded the bases with one out, but couldn't score a run as Kyle Wilkie grounded out to a double play.

To leadoff the 11th inning, on a 1-0 offering, Grayson Byrd hit a walk-off homerun to win the series for Clemson.
