Bill Bender, of Sporting News, released an article on who he thinks the top ten quarterback prospects are going into the 2019 NFL Draft next year.
The list included Nick Fitzgerald (Miss St), Joe Burrow (Ohio St), Clayton Thorson (Northwestern), Ryan Finley (NC State), Trace McSorley (Penn St), Drew Lock (Missouri), Shea Patterson (Michigan), Jarrett Stidham (Auburn) and Will Grier (West Virginia) at the top of it.
Coming in at number six is South Carolina's Jake Bentley. Bentley is entering his junior season with the Gamecocks and has started 20 straight games for them with a 13-7 overall record.
Bender gives this paragraph explaining the inclusion of Bentley...
"Bentley is the guy who can make the biggest jump in 2018. He's a playmaker and an experienced starter for the Gamecocks. He's an accurate passer, but he needs to cut down on the interceptions. He threw eight picks in South Carolina's final four games against FBS opponents last season, including losses to Georgia and Clemson. Those are the two games where Bentley can attract some more attention."
In my opinion, it would take exponential improvement for Bentley to even consider going pro after the 2018 season. He has potential but the production rate is not there to be a top QB prospect in the NFL.
