Canes Take the Victory over Tigers in Overtime

CLEMSON, SC -- Clemson ended the decade with a heartbreaking 73-68 loss against Miami in overtime. Miami was ranked 84th in the NCAA NET Ranking (as of 12.30.19) coming into the matchup. Clemson came in ranked 117th in the NET poll.


The teams went into halftime tied at 26 a piece. Chris Lykes led all scorers at the break with nine points. Clyde Trapp was right behind him with eight points. Miami shot 39.3% from the floor in the first half while Clemson shot 42.3%, including 36.4% from three-point range.


Clemson led for 31 minutes and 59 seconds of the game but couldn't close it out in regulation with multiple opportunities to do so. The game went to overtime with the teams all tied up at 62.


The Hurricanes made the tough plays down the stretch and sealed the deal with a good defensive possession and two free throws to put it out of reach at the end.


Miami guard Chris Lykes led all scorers with 27 points on 10/16 shooting. Aamir Simms led the Tigers with 21 points on 8/14 from the floor.


The Tigers will host NC State at home for their next game on Saturday, January 4 at 12:00 pm.
