CFB PLAYOFF TEAMS UP WITH NIKE FOR AUGMENTED REALITY EXPERIENCE AT 2020 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

by CFBPlayoff Media Comm.

NEW ORLEANS – The College Football Playoff (CFP) today announced that it has teamed up with Nike to create an Augmented Reality (AR) experience around the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Local artists from New Orleans created individual murals for each of the four Playoff Semifinal teams. The murals are located in the heart of the Championship Campus in downtown New Orleans. When the murals are viewed through Snapchat or the official CFBPlayoff mobile app, former athletes associated with each team will offer messages for fans and information on an exclusive Nike product drop. Odell Beckham, Jr. and Jarvis Landry represent LSU, Denzel Ward represents Ohio State, Carlos Watkins represents Clemson; and Sterling Shepard represents Oklahoma.

Beginning Saturday, January 11, fans will be able to unlock the opportunity to purchase one of 100 exclusive CFP Nike Air Force 1s by interacting with their team’s mural on Snapchat and collecting their team badge in the CFBPlayoff mobile app. The first 100 fans to show their team badge at Sneaker Politics in downtown New Orleans will have the ability to purchase the exclusive CFP AF1s. Doors open at Sneaker Politics at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday.

The murals were painted by Louisiana-based artists Marc Fresh, Ceaux Young and Jay Mckay. The artwork can also be seen on the artists’ Instagram pages by visiting @marcfreshart (LSU and Oklahoma), @ceauxartwork (Clemson) and @artby_jay (Ohio State).

The augmented reality technology is powered by SIDEARM Sports, which, for the second year, has partnered with the CFP on immersive media initiatives.

The 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship will take place on Monday, January 13 at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT). The game will air live on ESPN.
