NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Sun Belt Conference office announced that over 2,000 Sun Belt Conference student-athletes were named to the 2018-19 Commissioner's List and Academic Honor Roll on Thursday. The list is comprised of 1,037 student-athletes on the Commissioner's List and 1,027 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll list.
The Commissioner's List honors student-athletes who maintained a 3.5-grade point average or better during the 2018-19 academic year and the Academic Honor Roll recognizes those student-athletes who maintained a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 for the academic year.
For the second-straight year, Coastal Carolina had the highest number of honorees with 233 student-athletes between the two lists (142 on the Commissioner's List and 91 on the Academic Honor Roll), up from 216 student-athletes in 2017-18.
The Chanticleers’ 142 representatives on the Commissioner’s List was a conference-best while the 91 Chants on the Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll was the fourth-highest behind Appalachian State (112), Troy (101), ULM (97) and Louisiana (97).
Women's soccer had the largest number of student-athletes on the Commissioner's List with 154 followed by women's track & field and cross country, which had 160.
Football led all sports on the Academic Honor Roll as 215 student-athletes were named to the list. Baseball was second with 142 on the Academic Honor Roll, while women’s track & field and cross country was third with 110 honorees.
