Back in early February, reports were coming out about the XFL having interest in Trevor Lawrence, Clemson's young phenom quarterback.
Now, in a report by Matt Hayes, Justyn Ross has garnered their attention. The freshman receiver burst onto the scene in spurts throughout the season with multiple 50+ yard touchdowns, one-handed catches and his ability to win virtually every contested ball thrown his way.
In Hayes report, he alluded to Ross as being "a player too young for the NFL, too good for college football and too aware of what can happen in this world to wait on opportunity."
"The XFL will begin its reincarnation next spring with more integrity and less theatrics—and $500 million in the bank. The league says it will draw its talent pool from college football and even sign players straight out of high school.
XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck sent a letter last year to agents informing them the XFL could pay as much as $200,000 a year for elite players.
'The XFL isn't paying that premium salary for NFL castoffs or guys that have been cut,' one agent tells Bleacher Report. 'They're aiming directly at college football players.'
Players like Ross."
The article goes on to tell the story of how Ross wanted to leave Clemson and go home just a couple of weeks into the 2018 season. A 'come to Jesus' phone call with his mom helped ease those desires. It obviously ended up paying off for Ross.
"But understand this: These scenarios of diminished playing time and leaving school unfold all over the country at every FBS school. Elite recruits don't play early, and then they transfer."
The transfer portal throughout this offseason has shown just how temperamental 18-22 year olds can be. Especially when they come out of high school as highly-touted prospects.
And make no mistake about it, the XFL will look to capitalize on those emotions.

The article in full is very telling about the XFL's intentions. It is intriguing and terrifying on a number of levels.
Clemson is recruiting at an elite level every year now and should continue to as long as Dabo is the head coach. But if the XFL goes after players out of high school or offers current college players the chance at six figures right away, it could damage more than just Clemson football...
