CLEMSON, SC --- Clemson used a group effort, that included home runs from Beer and Greene, to win 8-3 and sweep Boston College on Saturday in Clemson.

On a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon, Logan Davidson was able to get the contest started early for Clemson with a single into right field. One wild pitch and a passed ball later, Davidson stood on third with Seth Beer at the plate on a full count.

On the next pitch, Beer hit a deep fly ball that scored Davidson and gave Clemson an early 1-0 lead. Patrick Cromwell and Chris Williams would continue the inning with back-to-back doubles.

At the end of the first inning, Clemson found themselves with an early 2-0 lead.

Boston College responded by adding two runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to tie the game.

With no outs in the fourth and two runners on, Monte Lee decided to make a pitching change and bring in Mat Clark. Jake Higginbotham allowed just three runs on four hits in three innings of work.

BC would take a 3-2 lead with a runner scoring on a wild pitch from Clark.

On the last pitch of the fourth inning, Mat Clark was struck on the shoulder from a line drive. Clemson recorded the final out of the inning, but after being checked out by the trainer, Mat Clark was pulled from the game for injury. Travis Marr came into pitch for the Tigers.

Clemson bats would find their spark in the fifth inning.

With Jordan Greene on first, Logan Davidson doubled down the first base line. A fielding error by the BC right fielder scored Greene and advanced Davidson to third base.

Davidson would later score on a passed ball.

On a 3-1 count, Seth Beer hit a 393 foot solo home run to left field to extend Clemson’s lead to 5-3 in the fifth.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Jordan Greene hit his first homer of the season.

After back-to-back two-out walks, Bryce Teodosio doubled to left field to score Wharton and Wilkie.

Ryley Gilliam closed out the ninth inning and the Tigers 8-3 victory.

Clemson (22-6 overall, 8-4 ACC) is back in action Tuesday against Coastal Carolina at 6:30 pm.
