PREVIEW: Clemson vs NC State MBB

CLEMSON, SC — The Clemson Tigers will look to get back to even on the season with its seventh victory and also notch its first of ACC play against NC State. Tipoff from Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, S.C. is slated for 12:01 p.m. ET.


  • Clemson will look to end a three-game losing skid to NC State. The Tigers last victory against the Wolfpack was a 78-62 decision at home on Dec. 30, 2017.

  • The Tigers’ last three losses to NC State have come by a combined three points.

  • The Tigers have been bitten by the injury bug in 2019 and have had many key players miss time due to injuries, including preseason projected starters Clyde Trapp and Jonathan Baehre and in-season starter Chase Hunter.

  • Three-of-the-five injured Tigers have missed at least 10 games this season.

  • For much of the season, the Tigers have had as few as eight scholarship players active in games.

  • The Tigers have had players miss a total of 39 games this season.

  • Aamir Simms amassed his fourth career 20-point game in an overtime loss to Miami on Dec. 31. Simms finished 8-of-14 from the floor and finished with 21 points, while also posting eight rebounds. Simms’ career-high is 23 points, which he has scored on two occasions.

  • Clyde Trapp posted his first double-digit scoring game of the season since returning from a torn ACL injury that kept him off the floor for the Tigers’ overseas trip for the 2019 World University Games and also the first 10 contests of this season.

  • Trapp scored 13 points against Miami on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor, including hitting three from behind the arc. He played in a season-high 35 minutes after not eclipsing 20 minutes in either of his first two games.

  • Curran Scott was the Tigers’ third double-digit scorer against the Hurricanes. Scott has now posted four games of at least 10 points. He finished 5-of-9 from the floor against Miami.

  • Clemson trails the all-time series to NC State 53- 104, however, the Tigers are 33-33 all-time against the Wolfpack in Clemson.

  • Clemson will look to snap a three-game losing skid to NC State, with its last victory coming on Dec. 30, 2017. A 78-62 win.

  • Clemson’s last three losses to NC State have come by a combined three points.
